Cool NU Direct Renewels

Took out my insurance last year with NU Direct (paid for on the web site).

A renewel arrived the other day and was a bit more than I was expecting, so I went onto the NU Direct web site to check the details only to find that the quote was less than the one they had mailed me. It turns out that if you buy a policy from the web (currently at least) you get a 20% discount.

So if you get a renewel from NU, buy your insurance from the web site and get another 20% off.

I'm planning on just doing a completely new quote on their website when my renewal comes in, if its bad. Hopefully that should work if they dont realise I'm already insured with them

Discounts to new policies is nothing new. Happens all the time and is the reason I've had to shop around and change insurers for the last 6 years.

NU have always been expensive for me and although I have 8 yrs NCD, they still want £850 for a £9K Impreza.

Most of these companies do the same - they are targeted on new business not keeping customers. Just renewing my policy with priviledge £80 cheaper as a new policy over the web. Its funny when they ask for evidence of your no claims from previous insurance co!

Cool

Well I bought online anyway and the policy docs are already in my sticky mits.

When you read the wording on the web site the 20% discount is for the online purchase. Can't really see why an automated letter adds 20% to your policy. More fool them.
