Privilege Insurance is underwritten by Direct Line Insurance plc which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Registered office: 3 Edridge Road, Croydon, Surrey, CR9 1AG. Registered in England No. 1810801. FSA registered No. 02858588.
That bit of their homepage gives the game away.

Tesco Finance is also run by Royal Bank of Scotland so

on the homepage also isn't a surprise.

[edit]
Although my insurance on the Legacy isn't due until April, I tried an online quote. The answer wasn't vastly different from what I'm paying now with Esure. Ho hum, I'll try again in April and see what they want then.

I've just gone through the renewal process for the little rascal and Privilege gave me the best "bang per buck" clocking in at ~£960 (~£500 cheaper than my original insurers renewal quote).

For those who are interested I'm 28, 6yrs NCB ,12k annual, SDP only, garaged ... the car itself is a MY03 STi Type UK (standard alarm/tracker). I just had a £5k claim go through for attempted theft in early September (see this thread for story/pics) of this year so was expecting high quotes. From memory the worst was Endsleigh wanting a whopping £4k+ ... ouch, so I was happy to get it for under £1k
