Default Modifications and insurance

Peeps

I am renewing my insurance at present and am declaring my mods. Exhaust, filter and suspension. But where I am in the dark is declaing my uprated brakes, I have a Hi-spec Monster 4 kit.......does anyone know how this affected the price of the policy????

Cheers

Depends on insurer. Some load for it, some don't. Depends on their view of the risk for underwriting.

Hmm guess I will just have to suck it and see........probably cost me loads!!! Would have thought they would take kindly to my lesser chance of landing in and ditch or in a hedge!!!

I think their reasoning is that the fact that you have felt it necessary to uprate the brakes means either that you are driving fast and brake late and hard or that you have made the car faster and so it needs better brakes. Either scenario suggests an increased risk of you binning it. It's more to do with what uprating the brakes suggests about your driving style than the effect the better brakes will have. Also, your brake bias and ABS performance will be messed up now, which doesn't make the car any less likely to end in a hedge from their point of view.
