Default My Insurance Quotes, Good/Bad/Outrageous!!

Right , have been phoning a few companies to see what the insurance would be like...

Me: 25, 7yrs NCB, 8yrs driving. 1 SP50 = 3 points on licence. I live in a very, very safe area in S. Devon.

Car: MY00 Turbo Wagon with PPP/PHP valued at £12000, with a Cat 1 alarm (no tracker)

Tesco - Want a tracker fitted and the premium price is £1390 unprotected, £1625 protected, with a compulsary excess of £550.

Liverpool & Victoria - £1180 unprotected, £1373 protected with £300 exess. When I asked about the PPP, they said mods dont matter, just keep receipts!!

Privilege - Wanted a tracker fitted, and the premium price £1105 unprotected, £1290 protected, with £550 exess.

In all cases the PPP/PHP was fully declared, and Tesco even knew what it was!!

Opinions?? I seem to read of younger people getting better quotes all the time, yet when I get quotes they are always mucho £££.

You're lucky to get a quote with L&V, they don't usually quote for under 30's. I would say your quotes are about right, but I've found that some insurers are particular about different cars. I had a quote for my wife's Audi A4 diesel at much higher than my Scoob!!!
When getting quotes try putting £1 less for the value e.g. £11999 for the value and 1 mile less for mileage e.g. 8999, (if the website allows). Insurance companies have cut off ranges where prices can go up and down as much as 10% for the next range. I got a quote with Lloyds for £50 less because I said 9999 instead of 10000 (10% difference). Also, stick the missus/girlfriend on the policy if she is over 25 and not had too many accidents/convictions. That'll knock it down another 5%. She doesn't have to drive it ;-))

James

Try www.insuresupermarket.com for quotes - you just add data once for about 50 companies. Only problem is some quotes are a pi$$ take when you enter their specific site and can more than double the quote (More Than being one of them).
