Insurance for scoobies as second cars
Hi.
I'm in the throws of trying to find the best solution to my craving for an impreza. Due to work commitments I need to run a diesel car as my first car, but I'm trying to claw together funds to get a nice scooby as a weekend car. Unfortunately this means trying to get the scooby insured as a second vehicle . Does anybody know of places that are good for insuring scoobies as second cars?
When I tried Adrian Flux when I'd spotted a nice Imported R33 GTS-T Skyline they wanted £3K for a years fully comp..... And the car was only gonna cost around the £7K mark!!!!!
I'm really, really confused...... Please help!
{p.s. - I'm 27 with 5 years NCD on my main car (SEAT Toledo at the moment), but I'm looking at either an import WRX/STI or an UK Turbo 2000, probably around the 6 - 8K mark}

Surely the most cost-effective option here has to be to insure the Subaru (or whatever) as your main car and re-insure the Toledo as a second car. Have you tried doing it that way?

Thanks for the pointers..... I think I'll be giving Adrian Flux a wide-berth and trying L&V. Just checked out another thread and L&V seems to be pretty good. Anybody had any experience of a claim with them?
greasemonkey - I haven't actually tried the toledo as a second car (yet?!?) but I did do the online quote with a number of companies using the toledo and no no-claims bonus and it was better than the scooby!
Lagamorph - I tried elephant online... From memory they were around the same sort of money as Admiral. I tried them for an Escort Cosworth Lux (boyhood favourite car!!!) and was shocked at how little they wanted... A mere £1500! The AA wanted £4500 for the same car!
Cheers,
Michael.

Sweeeeetttttt......
Glad to hear that at least one company out there plays ball and doesn't take the "hit 'n' miss"! I actually like Direct line as a company (my current insurer), but they don't seem to like performance cars. Maybe if I promised to wear a flat cap whilst driving an impreza they would give me better quotes?!?!
Cheers,
Michael.
