Don't quote me but I rekon it's due to the unknown quantity theory, my brother got an rs focus as we know 2.0 turbo but only paid £450 a year fully comp but when renewing his policy it had risen to £1050!!! They told him that now the car had been around for a year they have dealt with lots of people crashing so the policies will go up, they are just that stupid they don't class the wr1 in the same league as an sti8...............yet!

or I could just be totally wrong!!

With insurance, one of the contributing factors is risk.
As the WR1 is a new car the risk can only be predicted but not known.

When 10 or 20 WR1s have been stolen or totalled the premiums will start to rise, the insurance companies will know the risk level involved.

But you still haven't saved enough through the insurance to actually buy one!

I predict a MASSIVE rise in premiums at renewal from Liverpool Victoria over the next year.

They are currently being selected against like mad (taking on all the risks other insurers won't, at least not at standard price).

They will not want to continue doing it!

What a joke! Just imagine if you had told them the WR1 is an STi with a performace pack modification and a few other bits! You'd end up with an astronomical quote for the same car! This is why I think everyone with PPP is getting ripped off by their insurance (apart from a few insurers who don't load for the PPP mod). It's time the WRX PPP and STi PPP were added to insurance databases - if it can be done with WR1 then it can be done with the others, as PPP is always fitted after first registration.
