will send email with details, but today I insured my car with A-plan. They beat the keith michaels quote by over £200, and nobody else could touch even the Keith Michaels quote.

This was for lots of mods, specifically high power, no requirements for garaging or tracker.

They do cover Imprezas and 'other' modified cars but ne'er the twain shall meet it seems

I've been reading the post about L&Vs possible policy change on mods, but when I went with them 6 weeks ago they didn't want to know anything about mods unless you changed the engine size.

So, you could convert your standard scooby into one beast of a motor and it wouldn't increase your premium.

Nor do they care about security, or about speeding fines.

Liverpool victoria's website states that they won't insure any car with performance enhancing mods.Confusing!!
Anyone have aphone number different to the one on the website ie 0800514514.

i've yet to get my renewal from them, but at the mo my uk modded turbo is insured with them. maybe modded imports they don't touch?
will find out in the next couple of days.

the number i phoned L+V on was the one from the website and they gave me the cheapest qoute so far with the lowest XS aswell and no, not worried about mods either.

even tried keith michaels as recommended and the guy said the L+V qoute couldn't be beaten for me and backed up their stance on mods and car security etc. also said they're a very good company when it comes to paying out, so that's good to hear escepially from a rival company.

I tried L&V a little while ago and was told that they have a model list for imports and if your model isn't on it, they don't quote. I have a MY97 5 door STi, which isn't listed. If it was a MY97 2 door Type R, that's OK. Pot luck it seems.

As Christian is only about 23? or are you younger - cant remember!! - LV is probably a no-no......

I insured with LV and the only company that would ever consider mods was through the broker A plan who came within about £100.....

As for the others mentioned -cant harm trying but I always found them useless

It annoys me that I pay about £1k insurance on full no claims, never an accident, no points, garaged in a fairly low risk area and I drive about 3k miles a year!!! (and I'm 32 and have a very low risk job) - strikes me its all a scam!! - shame I cant get limited mileage policies on a highly modded sti5!

The following web page has a long, long list of UK insurers and mentions Subarus ... see here

It has phone numbers for all those listed (incl. A-Plan, Keith Michaels etc.) but sadly not many links to their respective websites ... the slacker

Hope this is of some use.
