Question Tesco (again) and Trackers

I got quotes starting at £1000 (27 yo, 93 WRX), then tried Tesco and got £580. Nice I thought, but thats with a tracker. Question is, what do tracker prices including fitting start at roughly and how much would the subs be?

Any help much appreciated

Check with Tesco's, I think they require the monitor option.

Rossboy thats a good quote? On import as well. I would check about the tracker though.
Some of the insurance company's want the later tracker devices 'GPS'
& there not cheap.
If they except the tracker monitor I might give them a call myself.
How many years no claims have you got? any points ? etc.

Thanks for comments. Reason for good quote as follows:

Live in Aberdeen area, which is category A of categories down to F
Garaged
9 years no claims (though Tesco only have up to 5 I think)
Never had any points (god knows how)
Never had any claims
Only up to 6000 miles per annum
The other half on the insurance - always a must

Insurance isn't due for over a month, but I like to do my homework first, especially if I need to fit a tracker

Yeah mate im with tesco, they will only approve tracker monitor or horizon dont go for the cheap option and get the retreive cos they wont accept it! i have the monitor myself, it cost 435 and its 109 per year for the subscription, maybe you could get it cheaper if you shoped around though, mine was fitted at subaru. hope this helps mate

I suppose £109 a year to save £400+ on the insurance isn't a bad deal! Its just the hit of the £400+ outlay in the first year thats the stinger.

There's also the worry that Tesco join the second year of insurance kick in the guts like most companies seem to do. Think I've changed insurance company nearly every year because of this.

M8, I know your issue. Sack off Tesco and give Elephant.co.uk a bash. They are one of the only companies that ensure at the moment on a scooby without the need of a tracker device.... and they were the cheapest (for me)!

Good Luck!

i've just made an enquiry with tesco today about insuring me on a WRX, they said they wouldnt insure me for theft without a tracker. So theoretically i could have an accident and be covered, but if i got the car home and it was stolen on the same night, then my insurance would be void

Wheres the best place to get trackers fitted in the West Midlands??Any mobile fitters?

Hadyn - I am going through exactly the same thing with Tesco.
I am going to have an RAC trackstar unit fitted, and they come out to me.

Failing that do a search on here for Tracker, I believe there is a company in Brum that fits them...

i just have horrible images of being carjacked on the way home after handing over the cash for the car, and getting zippo from the insurance for it. I suppose any dealer worth their salt wouldnt mind an installer coming over to install the unit anyway before its sold....

Things are so much simplier with 200SXs, you just buy them and insure them, and the scum dont want to nick them!!Great eh?!

Try www.privilege.co.uk

They're quoting me (27) just over £700 for 15000 miles PA, parked on driveway, 5 years NCD although I have a tracker fitted, they seem to charge the same regardless of whether it is a monitor or horizon

Much cheaper than Tesco or Elephant

Thats is a fair comment but the reason I mention Elephant is because they don't require a tracker device so thats how i saved.

Privilege guarantee to beat any quote at the moment providing you have 4 years no claims-haven't put it to the test yet though.

I'm with Tescos and have the monitor Tracker system-my annual membership is £99.00 and when I bought the car three years ago I had it fitted for £250.00. Must have been a decent bargain or the place I bought the car from (Well Lane Turbo) may have discounted rates.

Elephant may seem competitive. However if you fancy any modifications (or have any already) forget it!!

Tesco: £700.00 with exhaust and brake upgrade-girlfriend as named driver; cat 1 plus tracker garaged; 27 with full no claims.

No really, I insured with a different back box fitted and it made no difference.

I think it all boils down to where you live mainly, but thats insurance for you.
