Hmm, strange, according to the online quote system of LV, the condition below is important for mods:
Motor Insurance - Quote & Buy Online

We cannot insure:
Motor cycles, vans, pick ups, minibuses.

Cars which have not been manufactured for the UK market e.g. Japanese imports.

Cars which have performance enhancing modifications - Eh?

Cars which are used abroad for more than 180 consecutive days.

Cars which are in excess of £100,000 in value.

Cars that are registered and normally kept outside of mainland United Kingdom,
the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Drivers outside the age range of 17 and 79.

You, if you live in Northern Ireland.

Non mainland UK residents.


Does this mean all the guys that have been told cover is okay with mods isn't true?

thats just for quote and buy ONLINE. ring them up. tescos and elephant were the same - no facility to put your mods in the online quotes engine - so you need to ring them. this is pretty standard.

Okay, cool. I take it then the condition isn't written in the insurance confirmation....glad about that...as I've already written letters to LV, Tesco and Adrian Flux asking for quote with all mods listed - just waiting for reply.

Phone up LV. I did the same today and dropped from £1100 with Tesco's to £670 with LV. Also LV do not care what mods you do as long as you do not CHANGE THE ENGINE. I asked what this meant and they told me this meant swapping it out for another one!!! Any mods then simple notify them so they can record and acknowledge the fact.

FWIW I've been with Tesco for years and had a recent bump. They are NOT so friendly when you make a claim, but then that's another story.............
