ive just done a quote on the net with elephant .co.uk for an sti8 type uk 52 reg. im 32 9yrsNCB no convictions etc. it came back with a quote of £600 and a few pence(l&v quoted £820). thought this was a bit low so went through my details again to make sure they were right yep spot on £250 excess.
then decided to put the missus on 26yrs old full NCB etc.
the quote came back £536.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF's that all about did it three more times to make sure and it came back the same every time. has anyone else had this happen or are they having a laarf!!!

I insured my Aunt on my car because she has a very clean license and it reduced the premium by £200! (I'm young)

She doesn't even know....

well i checked the details to make sure it was a type uk i put in and it was. i think its a ploy on their part to get me to ring em then theyll bull#*@t another quote 200 squid dearer. if its right when i ring ill let ya know then ya can all root ya grans licenses out and pop em on the old scoob insurance (LOL at nelson). in the past ive always told the missus it would be far too dear to put her on the insurance(stops her driving it lol) but now i might have to put her on if its gonna save me £80

Got a good online quote from Elephant, checked, and double checked all details like you did. Went through the quote process again to make sure and...they quoted a lower price! Checked and double checked again - all ok and bought online straight away.
My docs all show the correct details so I'm happy.
The wonders of the internet.

I'm also with Elephant now - they gave me an excellent quote and all the details are shown correctly. You'll do well to find a phone number to ring them on!
BTW, I also checked that I was getting a full 12 month policy, and I was. I think they've ditched the 10-month-as-standard thing - probably were getting in trouble for mis-selling from the GISC.

Book the policy online so you get the quoted price, but watch out if it is a mistake it can be a pain cancelling and getting your money back. They will take their time.

Do they do mods and imports? (35, full NCB, etc...) And can anyone clear up whether it's true or not imports are almost twice as much to insure?
Cheers.

L&V do imports. Won't quote unless over 30. I was told (by very helpful and knowledgable lady, no sarc.) that it was 'cos import is GRP20 and UK is only 17 ?? sounds feasible to me.

ooops typo's

I had my 306 GTI-6 insured with Elephant and when i put my dad on the insurance, as backup in case he needed to use it (never did)the quote came down by about £70. When i got my Integra i put my mum on the insurance to see if it had the same effect - it did, came down by a £ton!
Apparently its to do with 'spreading the cost/risk' of the insured, older more experienced drivers are good.

I was always dubious when getting on-line quotes off elephant - always thought the price was too good to be true ( kept thinking they must not know what an ITR is!!)but always found them very helpful when i rang up to confirm the on-line quotes, and they were always true to their word.

Currently with Adrian Flux £695 fully comp (group 19) , protected with ltd mileage discount. 1998/S ITR.

Going back to elephant next year though, and gonna put my Gran on the quote - should be about £50 fully comp!!!!
