When I got my MY02 Sti, the only sensible insurance quote I got was from Norwich Union. However, when I got the policy they had classed it as an import. I contacted them and told them it was a Type UK, but they said it was still classed as an import. I said in that case virtually every car on the road is an import!
Has anyone else come accross this?

The AA would't quote me for my STI7 Type UK as they said it was an import

I was on phone to Norwich Union today for a quote on my STi7. When I emphasised that it was a Type UK the girl said that that wasn't listed & she had quoted me on an import. She put me on hold & checked with her underwriters department who confirmed that they class all STi's as Imports. No idea why.

Incidentally, the quote was very competitive - not quite as good as the one from Privilege though.

Got my STI7 insured with Elephant. They have it in their list of uk vehicles.
They don't like imports so good job they understoodd that it aint one, as they gave me the best quote by far.
