Independent Insurance refund
#1
If there's anyone around who remembers all this stuff from the end of 2001 or whenever, here's potentially some good news. Having got docs from the adminstrators saying I could get a 90% refund of my lost premium a month or two back, I took it up with the credit card company, claiming all of the lost portion back (as recommended by the administrator). After about two months of to-ing and fro-ing, the credit card company have now agreed to refund all the premium for the time from the enforced cancellation of the policy to when it should have finished.
Which gets me about £300 back Persistence pays off in the end!

Was the the Hill House Hammond (amongst others) fiasco? My g/f was caught up in that but was lucky in having her policy transferred with no extra costs. Glad to see you got sorted out.

Not sure if it was the same thing. It was when Independent Insurance went under - quite a few Scooby people had policies with them, though probably mostly through brokers.

Alas all the policies were through Brokers, as Independent were a Broker only company...
We have seen refunds coming through and the appropriate cheques/settlement have been/are being sent out to our customers finally!!! (and this includes £1,400.00 to me!!! cos alas I was a policyholder with them for motor and my household!!)...
