Prodrive and insurance -

I have just got off the phone with my insurer Bell Direct, to see how much more my policy would increase if I opted for PPP. I was expecting say £60 - £100 pounds increase but to my amazement this would cause an immediate decline of my insurance!!!
Good job I have not already had it fitted….
Anyone out there now a good insurer I can try? I am currently paying £600 (no tracker) for my WRX Wagon my03. Full no claims.
Bloody insurance is a right con in my opinion, how can an extra 40hp make the car uninsurable?

Bell did the same to me. Unfortunately, I had taken the cover, and they instantly cancelled my policy. They are not at all mod-friendly. I went to Schofields last year, am now with Liverpool and Victoria, who were both much more in tune with my needs.

This is annoying of Bell Direct - they said the same to me - fit it and you're not insured. Unfortunately they were the best quote for me though.
P.S. Norwich Union Direct were also v. competitive (maybe worth a try)
Cheers

Privilege wanted to know what the percentage power increase was and loaded the premium by that amount.
Decided against PPP for the time being.
But check with your insurer before getting the mod.

Surely you need only declare an aftermarket backbox?
Do you thing, should the worst happen, the loss assessor will rip up the carpets in your footwell looking for what might appear to be a non-standard ECU?
Think about it...

I got the inpression that any mod (inc a back box) would not be covered. Any increase in BHP will terminate the cover. I think I will try some of the other insurers listed here; thanks for the responces.

A mate of mine totaled his M3; an engin re-mape was stated as one of the reasons he was to recieve nothing from the insurers. They do check, you might be lucky but why take the risk?

A warning for you.
I have PPP with L&V . They said to me that if its dealer fitted that it does not count but when i pushed them they meant if it comes from the factory as fitted it does not count . So i was loaded for engine and exhaust modifications, along with bodywork mods for sti8 spoiler. Its on my schedule, the good part is anymore engine , body or exhaust mods i do i don't need to tell them so i put airvent on roof and liveried up the body. In saying that it was still well below any other company.
