I "think" that they only insure over 30's though. If you're under 30 they don't want to know (my wife is 28, I have 12 years NCB I'm over 30 etc - they won't even give me a quote because my wife is under 30)

chrome - what car do you have. I was trying to get a quote for an STI8. If someone over 30(me) with 12 yrs NCB (and my wife is 28) can't even get a quote then they ust be extremely strict on who/what they insure.

I'm 27 and rang them back in march, they told me I was not old enough, I had to be over 30, unless recently they have changed their rating criteria??

Can the people who have managed to get a quote say what car they have (ie is it a classic impreza or a new age impreza). Also can you say when you got the quote

Can the people who didn't manage to get a quote say what car they were trying to insure(classic impreza or a new age impreza). Also can you say when you were not refused a quote

I was trying to get a quote for an STI8(I am over 30 but my wife is under 30)

My initial thoughts are
1) its harder to get a quote for new age impreza than a classic.
OR
2) they have recently changed their policy on under 30's

They just told me that there is no charge for changing engine capacity and that "engine/carburettor modifications" covers all. Which suits me with my upcoming 2.35 conversion

"a crock o **** ".

I rang them yesterday again re quote for STI 8 PPP. Firstly they didn't have the 03 model on the list but underwriers advised them to match it to the closest car(which was a Jap import). At this point they only had my details. The quote wasn't bad though £891(that's with PPP) and they said that when they do get the code for 03 STI I should get a small refund. As soon as said I wanted to add my wife to the policy(shes 28) they said that they wouldn't cover anyone with this car under 30.

So some imprezas are OK for under 30s but not STI 8 PPPs, so "crock
o ****" is not the true for everyone.

just read all the above threads and i see the problem you all have and think i may be able to help.

don't put your ladies on your insurance simple , you let a girl drive your pride and joy you all must be mad and the insurance companys agree with me.
now it's ok to let girls drive a sport, but ladies in a wrx or sti no don't do it , hand the keys back to your man and step away from the car.

i am also with tesco 02 bug eye wrx £250 excess 2yrs ncb £1250 me and the missus (well she did buy me the car drives up and down our drive once a month)with out the missus £780 same excess.me 28 me bird 26

flame suit zipped up waiting for scooby dive or little miss wrx to read this hehe

I need a new insurance ploicy for my Gems-equippeed WRX Wagon, as Bell Direct apparently refuse to cover strut braces - even on STi's, where they are standard! Nuts!
This Liverpool Vic company sounds good, what is their phone number & are there any others good for modified old Imprezas?

Gems, I'm not at home at the mo, but I think the number is 0800 815815 (or 715715) - perhaps someone can confirm.

Called them this am, and they are £212 cheaper than my current insurer (who class my car as a P1 due to the mods !). When asked if I could add a cage / seats etc to my list of mods, the chaps reply "we really don't need or want to know about that" - get it all in writing, JOB DONE ! Well done to the original poster of this thread, me and the lady, both cars insured with L&V, saved £426 in total !

For the purpose of testing the water, change her DOB to get a quote, at least then you'll know if it's a good move or not !

LV wouldn't insure a jap import WRX wagon - only the '4 door' - anyone else managed to get insured with them on a similar car? Shame as they sound well cheap (I'm over 30, 7 yrs NCD etc).

Cheers

Liverpool Victoria would not quote last week on my new EVO7, me 29 missus 30, but for over 30's seem very hard to beat on price and are not to bothered about mods, which is fairly cool.

I just spoke to L&V and they said they can't quote for <30 for WRX. Also had a lengthy discussion about the fact they didn't have a UK spec STI on their list - how far behind are they?!?

They do now have the 2003 STi8 on their system...

Just had a good quote from - modded STi8 = 863.94 (with 450 excess)

Finding it difficult to get under 1K at the moment (36yrs, full NCB, class 1 bus use, 6 points=2xSP30) and to get the benefit of "we're not interested in mods unless you change the engine (ie to a different one) and we include use for pre-notified track-day use" is pretty cool.

They simply advised me to take photos of the mods.... though currently thinking about how to take photoes of EcuTek and fuel pump.......???

My only current alternative is Barclays (NU) - who have come in at just 1K, but (due to a ****-up that they've agreed to honour) only 120 excess.

Bit of a dilemma..... any thoughts?
