It's up to you really, but insurance companies will be looking for excuses not to pay out if you put in a claim, and it depends whether you can afford to take that risk... On the plus side, declaring the back box as a replacement exhaust covered us for an entire exhaust replacement so it cost us no more when we did the centre and downpipe.

Soulgirl,
I would recommend that you advise your insurance company of all modifications. It is classed as a Material Fact and could void your policy (yes.....void your policy!!) if you failed to disclose it/them. It is best to disclose all modifications, however small and insignificant they may appear to you, at least by doing this you are safe in the knowledge that full cover still applies....even if they do charge you a few pounds for the pleasure. Nowadays in the event of a Subaru claim (or any other similar performance car) the engineers who inspect the vehicle prior to authorising the repairs will check for anything "non-standard" on the vehicle....in many, many cases they will even check the ECU etc etc....
