Hi Guys,

Been on the phone most of day trying to get a decant quote on an RB5. After getting refused from most I started asking them the question why? I am 23, 1 NCB clean DL and in the sticks. The answers I have been getting are that the insurance under writers of the major company’s have changed there policy’s on the Subaru due to excessive claims in the last 12 months!! So most have now changed the policy to Over 25s or a hike in the policies for under 25s!! I had a quote from Tescos of £1,300 4 weeks ago tried again today and the best I got on the same details is £1,900 any one else seen this?

I had exactly the same problem 2 weeks ago on my P1: 27, 3 years NCB, clean DL, small town - "sorry, we can't find an underwriter who'll cover you. Lots are pulling out of the Impreza Market", "sorry, we will only cover you if you are 30+".

Went with admiral in the end (same as elephant but i prefer having people to talk to) - the only people who would even touch it, and that was after trying all the 'specialists'.

I had always assumed that in the insurance industry there would always be SOMEONE to take a risk - although at a price. Instead it just seems to be flat out refusals.
