Been insured with Hastings Direct for 2 years now....

Have just sold my MY94 and enquired about a change of vehicle. They first informed me that they would not cover an EU import, then went on to say that they would no longer cover a UK car.

I now have to cancel my current policy with them as they are not interested in transfering it to another Subaru....

I was with Hastings for my first year of Scoob ownership- only cost £520 fc, prot. NCB! Come renewal time they said they would'nt insure Scoobs anymore so I've gone with Liverpool Victoria.

Looks like I'll be with them soon 2.
Hastings Direct were £524 last year on my 1994
Now changing to a 2000 and they have pretty much told me to bugger off.

Liverpool Vic came back with £624 which is a damn sitre better then alot of others.

Same happened to me with Hastings.
Also because I wanted to cancel my insurance (there was still 2 months left on it) as they wouldnt insure new vehicle they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee.
I took it further and guess what they didn't charge me.

I expect they will try the same with me. But Really they are cancelling the insurance not me.

Same as U tho' I only have until April to run and they still would not cover an MY00.

If they do try to make you pay a cancellation fee, even though you are cancelling because they cannot insure you( As I had) then visit:

http://www.gisc.co.uk/Home/

These are an Insurance govening company and they told me what to say to Hastings direct.
Funny, as when I quoted what they said Hastings suddenly dropped the cancellation fee.

I don't know how true this is but my dealer was telling me that by law you need insurance, therefore it is angainst the law for an insurer to refuse to quote even if they come up wuith a ridiculous figure they still have to quote.

Maybe some of the insurers who post on here could clarify!
