Age, job, location and NCB all play a part in you getting insurance, and i think that your going to struggle a little bit without going for sky high excesses.
Jap imports will cost you more to insure to start with due to the higher power outputs (240, 260 and 280ps depending on year and model) and some parts are also more expensive to replace so its all reflected back in how much your insurance will be.
If your going to be paying your insurance on a monthly basis along with any outstanding HP etc then id look at something different as these cars are expensive to run (6 month service intervals or 7.5k whichever is first) and jap imports can only be run safely on super unleaded fuel, anything else will knacker the engine and leave you with an even bigger bill
Seriously though, you may actually find that a uk spec car may be cheaper by some margin to insure than its jap equivelent and even though the running costs will be around the same you should be able to get insured on one.

Not a fappying chance unless you go TPFT. Even then I am sure you will be well over the £2000 you stated.
Jap imports (WRX) are more to insure than UK Turbos as they have a higher power output etc.
You would have more chance insuring a UK Turbo but even then you won't get near £2000.

yeah you wont have a chance with imports! Go for the Uk one, they are still bloody quick!
My best quote was £1700 a couple of months ago when i was 21 and that was with Tesco on an import with 2 years NCB! And that was TPFT!!!

I have just paid 2,600 with Tesco, on MY98 Turbo, I am 24 live in a semi-decent London area and have 7 Years driving experience but no NCB due to driving a company car and then not driving for over 12 months.....
Its worth every penny !!
good luck

YES it is possible to get under 2K. Im 21, live in a medium rated crime zone, the car is garaged it has a cat1 plus tracker monitor.
i have 2 yrs NCB, 1 accident no fault. I pay £1450 thats with interest formonthly payments, with direct line. My car is UK 98 saloon, with the speedline extras (alloys)no other mods. You also get 10% for purchasing online if that is any help to you.
