Your Occupation = cheaper insurence?
#1
When you ask for a quote Insurers ask you for your ocupation. Does this make a differnce to the quote?
Currently I could give one of the following three jobs
Landscaper
Lorry Driver
Marketing Consultant
What would give me the best insurence quote? Or is there a job league table out there?
Cheers
Steve

It does make a difference as certain tyres of people are more likely to make claims ie pro footballers.
I'd guess that Marketing Consultant would be your best bet as that sounds like someone with a sensible job sitting behind a desk all day.

The old case of statistics, statistics, bloody statistics
Apparently, being a mechanic is one of the highest risk occupations for an insurance company. If you work in IT etc. this usually makes it lower risk i.e. mechanic = boy racer/petrol head, I.T. = computer geek

Just say your in the army, see how high it goes then!
The more quotes I get the more I think they just use a random number generator to produce quotes.

Mad,
its one of the highest risk jobs you can get (armed forces) so it boosts up your insurance loads
Now say your a civil servant and it goes down, how confusing

OI, i work in IT, by know means a geek, ask my mates, petrol head and a bit of a boozer (not at the same time) by all means. Will admit to fairly reasonable insurance. Just abuse the online insurance sites and keep changing the job you do. Tescos have offered me the best at the mo. 28, 6yrs NCD, 3points-sp30. £812 on a RB5
