20, that's what I've always been told for my 93 WRX anyway. Just got a great deal from Schofields insurance in Leeds. Rum from this bbs managed to get my quote down to £601 from £785 last year (and that was the best I could get at the time) 32yo, Full NC,Fairly good postcode.

The standard uk model is group 18 I think and most insurers class imports a bit higher I`ve been told. Sounds like one hell of a deal for 21yo with what you,ve told me. Who is that with? I was quoted £2500 to put my ex girlfriend on when she was 21!!!! One of my best mates wants a scoob, she lives in a nice area, 2 years no claims no convictions and is paying £1200 fully comp on a 1.6 Ford Escort! She'll die when I tell her about your quote. You have told the truth about everything haven't you????

Its group 17 for the standard classic scoob turbo, 18 for the RB5 and PPP'd scoobs, 20 for the P1 and 22B, the new wrx i think is 19?

17 for the classic UK Turbo is correct, and I won't argue with the other groupings.

As far as I'm aware all Performance Imports are hiked up to group 20 cos the insurance copmanies hate them.
You can understand with vehicles that's hard to get parts for, but an Impreza?? Chirssake.

Check the back of Banzai or Jap Performance mag for specialist insurers.

Question

I thought imports were given a 'plus' rating? ie; 93 WRX is a Gp 17+.

Think this means that ins companies can then hike the price to what they want, and aren't limited to the normal group ratings.

(Could be very wrong though!!)

The new WRX is variously quoted as 17 to 19. I think official is 17 standard, 19 with PPP, but most insurance companies (bless 'em) charge them all as 19 to keep things simple.

A Jap import of a UK car gets a + rating. The 93 wrx wasn't available in the UK, as an (unlisted by most) performance export I suspect it would be counted as a 20, except maybe through a few export specialists

This means insurance companies can hike the price to what they want
I thought they could do that anyway?
