Liverpool victoria dont require a tracker but id put one on due to the ammout of theiving scumbags out there who will lift your car and hide it worth spending if your going for a performance car IMHO.

No Tracker with AXA Direct (in fact they gave me cover without an alarm which did surprise me - no discount when I fitted one though )

It would be even more interesting if you could put your quotes and a rough description about who you are... then we can work out whether the difference in cost is worth the extra 'worry' ??

ATS 0870 6000 080

31yrs old plus 29yr old partner. MY00, turbo plus upgraded exhaust and brakes, 17" alloys. Full NCB, fully comp. Excess £250 - £889, or excess £350 - £826.

No tracker required - they say that if the car has a tracker, the only difference it makes if nicked is that you'll find the door (or whatever) with the tracker still in it - you still won't find the car in one piece!

Just got another quote (as my insurance is due!) - Liverpool Victoria - excess £150 on fire&theft, £400 on accidental damage - premium £594. You can drop the acc dam excess but your insurance goes up by around the same amount that you drop, so I'd rather take the risk!

You can also try www.schofieldinsurance.co.uk, AXA, and Diamond (if you're a girly!)

In case there are any criminals reading this BBS, just because a tracker is not required for insurance purposes - it DOES NOT necessarily mean that said car does not have one fitted.

You can't be too careful out there!

Not insured yet as havent got the Scoob (a week or so) but Ive already checked with my present insurers AXA who made no mention of needing a tracker on bog standard MY00 and Im 25. Still pretty competitive as well.

MY01 WRX (5dr)

Just renewed with Direct Line. Asked three times if tracker required (as it wasn't shown on the renewal schedule). Response was I did not require a tracker due to the fact that I live in one of the lowest rated areas in the country (Cumbria). So it seems there is a reasonable amount of geographic bias towards Direct Line's policy on tracker.

They also know the car is an EU import (with Sigma CAT1) but I didn't want to push them too much and ask them if they had forgotten this fact and prompt them to reconsider the tracker....

£498 fully comp, 16k miles pa, 37yr (+wife), business use, full no claims.

I was going to shop around but this seems ok for another year.

I went with Barclays last October, Cat 1 reqd but no tracker, included recovery, 45 days European cover (Including recovery) & no surcharge for track days providing they had prior notice. At the time they also had a policy of beating your best quote & the car was an imported STI with some tuning mods, they did not want a list of mods, just a BHP figure

Seemed a good deal at the time.

Chris knott - when I insured a few months back, not only did they not require a tracker, but they were the best deal around for a lot of people.
