Insurance for 23 year old!
Hi guys, I've just joined the forum My mum is selling her 97 import wrx and she has offered it to me for the price of a beer... So it would be rude to say no.. I've always wanted to own an Impreza, but never been in the position to be able to afford a clean example, but now I do..
The problem I am having is insuring it. I probably sound like a broken record
I'm 23 (24 in September) and I have 2 years no claims. I own a car already and a van so the Impreza will cover very few miles a year.
I currently pay £380 for a 1993 Clio 1.8 16v through Greenlight, but you have to be 25 for Impreza insurance through them..
The cheapest quote I have had is £3860 (comparison site), which is just ridiculous..
Should I just forget it til I'm 25? Or is there hope for me yet? Thanks

Hi and welcome,
Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. If you wanted to Private Message me your details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.
Regards,
Dan.

The insurers we (Keith Michaels) deal with would need a minimum of one years experience on a similar car before we could quote.
I'd normally suggest Admiral for under 25's without the experience.

I found that the import cars were harder to insure over uk cars.
And no one would touch me till I was 25 on a uk car either. How ever sky came up trumps in the end with decent cover and extras at a decent price.

I've had this conversation on various threads before, tbh I've never paid over the odds for insurance!
Edit**
I have my mother on the policy as a third named driver as well!

That is mental amounts! Has insurance risen ridiculously lately?
I had an RB320 when I was only just 23 and was quoted £850 for it, I'm only paying about £700 on a Type UK and am 24 next month also.

Well for reference, im 22 and with Bell, have 3 year no claims (soon to be 4 next month) and pay £1300 a year with my mods declared on my import STi Type R. And I've insured that for nearly a year now. I've got a funny feeling they will try and not come down this year so will have to look else where come renewal time.
You'll find a lower insurance quote but it just takes time.
