Default Double trouble

Hi Everyone,

Just picked up an 07 Impreza 1.5R hatchback and we love it however it currently has the double din head unit and we need to change it to allow us to connect our sub.

Is there a double to single din converter facia available or will any one work? also i presume i need to remove the surround before unscrewing the headunit, Insert the single din cage, pop the new stereo in and then replace the surround?

I'm very tempted to take it somewhere to get it done.

(i'm in the UK by the way)

Stereo just screws in with the screws on the side of the cage, you will then be left with a gap but plenty pockets on ebay or the like to fill the single din. hope that helps

Thanks for the info, looks good! do the screws come out of the old cage or is this something i need to hunt for? Also looks like you have another plate either side of the stereo?

Its not really a cage its like a chassis and the screws go into the stereo from the side so they will already be there, its a very easy job to do.
that was just a quick pic from google to give you an idea
