Standard Connectors
Wishing to change standard MY99 unit for a Sony CD/Radio Unit. Never having undertaken this task, is it something I can do myself, without crimping etc, or pay the c.£30 for installation?
In my old VW, I could seem to purchase connectors for different kit (Pioneer/Sony etc) which just dropped into the wiring loom (I did it the hard way
). Is this the case with the Scoob, or will I need to get something special?
Thanks

If your intended replacement has the newer Din connection try Halfords. They do a range of connectors which just plug in. I can't remember the exact part number but it had 44 in it, they'll need to order it (approx 3 days) and it was about 8 pounds.
Both the Alpine 1505R and a really old alpine tape model had the ISO connectors so its just a straight swap over
** APART FROM **
Most high power head units (1505R included) have a separate feed/earth for the internal amps which is a heavy duty cable. This cannot be wired into the loom (fuse blowing fun) but is best wired straight to the battery.
Also, if you have a lot of pre-outs and cables it can be awkward putting the new head unit in. Maybe £30 for peace-of-mind isnt so bad ?
