I've been offered a brand new Rio Car in-car MP3 player with a 10Gb HDD for £350, any opinions?

I think the RioCar is the d's b's, but it depends what you want. The mstation is cheap, the riocar is the rolls royce option.

I'd love one to play with!

Nice if it's got the tuner. Less so if it hasn't.

Get it - the Rio is on a completely different planet from the clunky old mStation. Easier install, better display, better build quality, better design, more features, etc, etc.

I had an mStation briefly, but sold it when Rio had a blowout sale at the start of the year and I picked up a 10Gb model. £350 is a fair price (they used to list at £1000+ !) - if you don't believe me take a look at ebay to see what they go for in the US.

Thats a neat looking alternative to the rio car. And does not seem to expensive either.

Lee, cheers for the info, it sure looks like a good product, it's just that my boss is going to sell me his Rio and let me pay for it "when I have the money" Unless you want to do a similar deal as a publicity stunt?

Edited to ask: does it need a seperate head unit/amps or is it a stand-alone unit?

There's only so much publicity I can afford!

Sounds like a great deal - exceptionally great if you can get the tuner.

Cheers

Lee.

Edited too! Dension DMP3 is based on the mStation model, i.e. HD jukebox and satellite display that connect to an existing audio source via aux-in, FM modulator or "realsoonnow" CD changer bus.

Question

Lee,

I can't find any prices on your website

What changer buses will it support? Did I read correctly that the first will be the Alpine one?

REV - yes, it needs an external amp of some sort. If your existing head unit has an aux input, you can use the Rio as your aux source and the existing head unit will run your speakers. Alternatively (and better if you're going to get serious), the Rio has an aux input so you could use your existing head unit as the aux source and benefit from the parametric EQ built into the Rio before feeding the signal to an amp.

Ozzy - not my site.

I'm live on Friday and will post the relevant URLs.

Alpine's in proto right now. Mass H/U support in ~6 weeks.

Cheers

OK, I'll check it out again on Friday. So are you reselling that stuff or have some other link with them (or none at all)?

I've got Alpine kit just now, but did consider replacing with Kenwood to get their Keg thingy. Looks like I won't need to bother now

Thanks,
Stefan
