Speaker upgrade help
as above i really want to upgrade my sound in my 2003 blob eye.
i want to get some nice bass in the back without installing a huge sub in the boot, and sum crisp soundsfor the rest of the car. so basicaly just replacing the door speakers for better ones whilst keeping the standard head unit if possible

1. DO NOT just take advice on here, then buy. ALWAYS find a way of listening to speakers before buying. And yes, they don't sound the same in Halfords etc as they do in the car, but you'll weed out the ones you hate. Always remember: one man's hi-fi is another man's noise.
2. How about a removable underseat sub? I have an Alpine one ion mine. It lives half under the passenfger seat, half in the rear n/s footwell. To remove it I pull it back and up off it's velcro, and unplug three connectors.
It makes a fantastic amount of difference to bass, especially at low sound levels.
3. To pick my speakers, I took my youngest to halfords and did two blind tests, front and rear. I ended up with Sony 16.5cm 3-way fronts and Sony 6x9 3-way rears.
NOT what people were recommending, but I still love the sound.

you will need to dynamat the doors and fit some speakers spacers in a newage, the spacers are a must as the standard fit speakers are very shallow to avoid hitting the window in the front when it is down.
if you ask what speakers are best you will get a 100 different answers, just go and listen to some.
i personally fitted hertz ones and am very happy, i dont have a sub etc as i just wanted an upgrade over the shocking standard fit ones.

Sorry to hijack this thread, I am just about to upgrade my blobeye speakers too.
What size of speaker spacers do I need?
Will any 6.5 front speakers then fit with the spacers?
Do you need spacers for the rear doors or will any 6 x9's bolt straight in?
Cheers
