Is it powering up at all. Any LED's or signs of life?
If not it could be the remote wire or either an earth problem or power feed. Could be a number of things really. You could try connecting it to another preout and seeing of that works!

The amp is powered up,the power protection light is off so is sufficiently earthed and a constant 12v power supply. The remote cable is also switching it on and off with no issues. I have connected the rca's to the rear pre out switching it to sub (not full speaker due to frequencies) and the same problem.next steps will be to check with multimeter when I can buy one

is the sub and amp new? as above are there any lights on the amp? is it going into safe/protection mode? have you adjusted the levels on the amp?
failing that check with a multimeter you have 12v going to the + on the amp, and remote wire when the ign is on and check u have a good clean earth,
also check the wires from the sub to the speaker havnt some loose if its active, and check the fuse by the battery as wel!

The sub and amp are new too so a little cautious of cranking it up too much as it isn't run in.yes there are lights on the amp and the protection light is not illuminating so the power circuit is ok.the amp gain is set about a third of the way the crossover set to 50hz.its an active enclosure so have assumed the manufacturers have cabled correctly inside the box,may be worth a check.
