Default Classic front speakers waterproofing

So I've bought some 17cm component speakers for my car and I've so far fitted speakers with crossover and tweeter, I have also installed some sound deadening. My only concern is waterproofing the speakers. How has everyone else done this?

Thanks

Dan

Thought it might make a horrible noise if I bagged um. Got hertz 165s in the front and hertz 130s in the rear and it's sounding sweet! Never really heard of hertz before but I went into the shop and they sounded really nice, so I thought I would give them a go! Very impressed even running them off the head unit!

Don't bag them, that's a bloody terrible idea. It'll just flap and fart and sound awful.

Use a product like this:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/phon...rain-stop.html
Which is a semi-permeable membrane, lets air through but keeps moisture off the backs of the speakers. Jsut sandwich it between the speakers and the mount as you insert and screw in the speaker.

EDIT: Google for DEI BOOM MAT or XTC FOAM SPEAKER BAFFLE.
(These things need the under-**** cutting out of them for the speakers to stand a chance of working properly.)

IMO the main issue is the inside of the door isn't weather proof. Also, unless using slimmer speakers or thicker spacers, the **** end of the speaker basket and magnet get close to the window mechanism when it's lowered.

Ideally you'd shroud over the top of the speaker basket. Some have gutted plastic food containers to do so.

Have a google for info.

Whatever you do, the rear needs to remain open and apparently it helps the speaker breathe properly if the bottom third or so is more/completely open.

PS My Infinity Perfects have corroded around the electrical connecters due to wet/dampness.

J.
