Has anybody installed a sat nav system in their impreza which has a screen that lifts out of the dash? If so I would like to know if the systems are installed in the top DIN slot and if there are any problems with the screen clearing the dash section above the top din slot. I want to place a 1 DIN head unit in the bottom slot and a screen in the top DIN slot and if I have to put the screen in the bottom slot it will completely obscure the head unit.

Cheers

i know you can set the angle that the panel sits at... i assume this will give you 'adjustment' on the clearance side of things.

p.s. i don't have a scooby so i dunno really... just thought i'd drop a line.

Hi Eddo and welcome to scoobynet

I'm moving this post to the ICE forum as you'll probably get a better and swifter answer in there.

Eddo,

I just fitted my Panasonic Navi unit and screen in my STi UK.
I did have a head unit in the bottom DIN slot but removed it cos my screen had everything on it I wanted so installed the Navi unit in the bottom.
All of the DIN screens should have an angle adjustment as well a distance adjustment away from dash, but don't quote me
I had no probs with mine, however still awaiting a damn cubby hole unit to fill my empty DIN slot from my local dealer
However saying that I did have to file my surround slightly wider to accomodate my screen unit.

Cheers,

Rob.

Ive got the alpine system in mine and fitted to the top din slot. the other din slot below is great to put your other little bits into.

If you want any other info get in touch.
By the way i reviewed pretty much all the sat nav units on the market for a magazine, and the alpine is by far the best system

Cheers

We have fitted the VDO MS6000 unit in our STi demo. With the pocket at the top, the screen does not cover the heater vents but does stop you using the cup holder at the same time! This actually all fits without modifying the unit at all.

The unit does everything so you have the pocket to store things instead of a separate head unit.

Nick,

I'm the medical editor for Technical Rescue Magazine, nothing fancy, and nothing to do with fast cars!

Mike,

Why on earth did you use a VDO Ms6000, you could have had a decent DVD based system for that money!!??

Cheers

It came for free for our Demo P1 and still works very nicely with it's latest CD information installed
