Sound deadening parcel shelf
Hi all,
I am looking for some advice, firstly I will say i known very very little about ICE so forgive my ignorance.
I am in the process of putting my scoob back on the road, before i took it off the road i got a brand new £300 sony head unit and £100 focal door speakers.
There is no rear door speakers and at some point in the cars history someone has put 6.5inch speakers and tweekers in the parcel shelf.
As i do not know the history of these speakers and look rather rubbish I have just ordered some Viba kevlar speakers and tweekers for the parcel shelf.
On speaking to the shop they said as they are going into the metal parcel shelf to get optimum sound i should sound deaden the parcel shelf,
What is the best way of doing this??

I'll second the Dynamat.
Easy to install and enhances the bass notes when added to the parcel shelf. You can also use it to stick down any cable that might be loose.

As cheap alternative, I simply filled the gap between the plastic shelf and the metal underneath with some thick foam. The difference in sound was like night and day - total cost was about a fiver

I used a similar product to dynomatt? Called silent coat. Very good price, and works wonders for the job you describe.
Well worth doing your front door skin and around the speaker area to improve sound.
