Cool

What would be the best route for speakers for the MY01 WRX, front door and rear budget of £200.
Is their a custom fit Sub box like the older model available or what sub and amp to use.

Thanks in advance for any help, cheers.

First off, forget the speakers in the rear doors - they'll make little difference. Instead you need to spend £50 on two rolls of Dynamat and sound deaden the front doors (otherwise they'll rattle to death when you fit new speakers.

With the remaining £150 spend the whole lot on as good a set of component 5.5 - 6.5 inch speakers you can find. Lots of people like the infinity range, also try Boston and MB Quarts.

I'm going for a pheonix gold 4 way amp (thought the genesis amp sounded a bit "treble high") and a custom sub as you mention. Get some cheap (ie less than dynamat!!) sound dampening (i used Brown Bread from Maplins at £14 a roll!!) to do the boot. you'll need about 4-5 rolls. Do under the rear seats as well.

Ive found that its well worth dampening the car as there no point spending a fortune on amps etc if you cant hear it over the road and engine noise!!!

The standard head units crap - i'm going for a nakamichi head unit as i was amazed by the sound quality AND it fits in the double din whole with their 6 cd changer and doesnt stick out of the dash (like the Kenwood MASK units do).

Good luck!!

Leicester Car Audio Centre

They are doing an install for me. Nakamichi kit sounds great but has no "frills" ie flashing lights and gizmo's. But it has 24bit sampling and sounds amazing compared with the Alpine/Kenwood units for the same money. Looks crap tho!!! No one knows you have a wizzy head unit!!

Dynamat is bitumen like stuff that sticks to body panels and stops them vibrating/whining as you drive along. This cuts down the sound inside the car (becomes more like a Jag ) and means your amp has to do less work overcoming the car noise.

Try Dynamat (£20-27) or Brown Bread from any good ICE retailer.
