Being a bit of a gadget boy I have always wanted Satellite Navigation (SATNAV) fitted in my car. As well as being a cool looking gadget to have it also serves a very good purpose, especially to someone who either drives around a lot, or has a demanding 5 year old son who gets bored going to Tesco's every Saturday. I am both of these people. As well as SATNAV, the system I have also gives you the opportunity to connect a TV tuner, Video Recorder, Playstation etc etc. The list goes on.

Looks like there's lots of inputs into the monitor, which is good for flexibility. Any sound inputs/outputs - or are they intending this to be an "add-on" unit to your ice?

How do you actually set your target destination?

Do they send you a CD every year, or is it megabucks for the subscription?

Kenwood have just announced an in-dash computer which interests me, and I'm wondering where to spend pennies...

What I'd ideally want is something that could be programmed to do everything you want it to, and switch audio/video around. I have a P90 pc in the boot, but that ain't really up to the job - perhaps this nav system would be overkill as I really want it to be a monitor for a pc setup.

Yes, I believe there are sound in put on the navigation box. You can certainely plug a camera into it and have sound, the manual also shows an amp pluggin into the box too.

The screen is a 16:9 widescreen monitor. What you can do, although I have not at the moment is split the screen. So you can have 2 different map displays. Clever eh?

Setting your target destination is simple. You can either type the name of the town, followed by the street name, enter the postcode, scroll via the remote control to the exact are on the map, enter the location co-ordinates, pick you location by points of interest etc etc etc, amazing kit.

I'm also interested in satnav. I've looked at teleatlas' site and wondered if your cd covers the whole of western europe or if you need a cd for each country.
