Default Double DIN to single DIN?

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere but I've got a little problem.

I'm replacing the double din with a single but have no way of securing the cage to the vehicle.

The original head unit had a securing plate bolted to each side but there is no way of securing the new cage to these plates.

Is there some aftermarket or genuine part that can be purchased to solve this problem?

I plan to fill the the blank section with guages. Still need to research how to do that neatly.

You have to bolt the two original side plates to the new head unit without the cage, or at least thats what I did

Thats definitely one way of doing it.

I've been looking around and theres plenty of people who have carried out this conversion. Surely theres a better way than bolting the brackets to my head unit.

Before I do. Did you use the original bolts that held the original head unit in?

Yes mate, dont put ones in that are any longer as it will damage the head unit.

I did

Just make sure that it goes in freely and doesn't constrict any CD motors etc.

I feel like such an idiot. That was so easy. I never realised that there are holes on the side of the head unit specifically for that. Thanks.

well at least u didn't do what I did - took out the original one and then broke some of the hinges I'd need off because I couldn't get the replacement unit back in!! Turns out I'd made a complete hash of putting the brackets on ...

so now I have it held in by only have of the normal number of screws lol
