Need help removing the standard tape player - 2000 model impeza wagon
I just recently bout this car. Its immaculte in and out.
It has the standard cassette player that I would like to remove to fit my own mp3 front loader (the main reason is the built in bluetooth for hands free).
Any advice?
The car has 180k miles on it but its stunning. I even have the original unused security stickers for the radio that you stick on the windows to show that the radio face comes off (well, the mini face lol).

if you havent alreaedy cracked it, you need to take the gear surround out, that should open up the area in which the stereo sits, the stereo sits in a cage that is bolted/screwed into place, should be 4 screws, the whole cage will come out, including ashtray, any slots you have and the cig lighter i think. you undo the screws on the side that hold the player in, then slide it out, fitting yours should be the reverse of what you already done.
Wiring, that may be a little tricky if you have the original tape player in there still, although its likely that someone has just put it in there to sell with the car, so you might be lucky and find some wiring of use behind it. If not, then you will either need an adaptor to go between the original wiring and your head unit. failing that, you can cut the plugs off and wire in your own iso plug for plug and playability.
