Its a newage so the alarm used to go of when i tryed to start it without disarming it i.e if i went into a shop and came back out i have to turn the ignition on and disarm now nothing, no siren

I know it works as i have heard it before

Also should it beep or something when i arm the car, the hazard flash nut no noise ?

Strange, mine has never made a noise (MY03).
I think it's in the options for the alarm. Pull down the little door where the fuses are and input the code to enable it.

on my GT Auto alarm, the not beeping on arm/disarm happens when the backup battery in the main unit is low or defunct. maybe the same in the on eyou have?

If its a standard Sigma alarm, try this:

Adjusting Door Open Warning Bleep Volume (Option *on the keypad)
To switch between loud and soft door open warning bleeps, turn on the vehicle s ignition,
type *on the keypad and immediately turn off the ignition.

Neil,
ive recently had a problem with my alarm and it turns out there is a 9v battery in the siren box that could be at fault.

its only a 10-15min job to swop it over..
could be worth a bash.

EDIT.

should have asked...does the alarm sound at all now?..as in if you set it off?
