Default Double din stereo replacment

Thinking of changing the head unit in my car to possibly a Pioneer double din. Is it a easy job and do they fit in the old slot or will I need a facia plate?

Cheers Lee

I put a pioneer in my 06 Hawkeye and was a relatively easy job but for the connection of speed pulse. The unit came with a surround but was not needed.
What you will need:
Cross head screw driver
Iso adapter(this will covert the Subaru loom to a standard iso adaptor which the HU can directly connect into.

Its a case of lift out gear lever surround.
Prise out cover with heating controls(just pops out)
With a cross head unscrew the old unit.
Take the fitting bracket off the old unit and fit to the new head unit. This bit can be tricky as you need to line up the bracket with care.
You will then need to plug the connector from the old head unit into the iso adaptor and then into the new head unit.
Connect aerial.
Test to ensure it works.
Screw unit back it and reverse process.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for that a5h that'll be a great help. Although the 1 I'm looking at has the Parrot phone kit with an external microphone so may get an expert to fit it.

The microphone is easy you just run the cable along the glove box and a pillar and headlining.

If getting the nav i would get the speed pulse connected up as i have not done it with mine and it does **** out every now and again.
