Default Is my amp fooked?

Ive got an amp and sub that I inherited in a van that I have. The amp keeps switching itself off. Is it broken?

The gain is set as it should be and after a few minutes it will turn itself off. If I turn the head unit off and then on again the sub and amp will work for a couple of mins then it will turn off again.

I think the amp is a Jetsound 200w max wattage, the sub is 250 RMS JBL I think, it may be a 200 watt RMS, not too sure TBH. The amp is a bridgeable 2 channel, I have it bridged for one sub.

I even tried turning the gain right down to see if it made any difference, that didn't work either. I did work fine before, it was running fine for months and months.

Hope this makes sense to you all.

Dan.

could be a problem in your remote power line to the amp.
It sounds like a problem with the HU, remote wire, .
its very difficult to say tbh.

Worth checking mate.

It was all working fine not so long ago. Connections are all good and the HU is new, a Kenwood so it should be fine, you'd have thought so anyway.

I will however double double check all the connections.

It seems to turn off once it has warmed up a bit. From cold it'll work fine but after about 10 mins it'll switch off and then it will switch off every time as decribed in my first post.

sounds like a dry solder joint by the way you describe it although not easy to find.

Check you are using the amp-on signal line rather than the power-aerial line. As the power aerial line on modern h/u tends to "stop" after a little while. Also to try... Wire the amp-power-on direct to battery or to a switch. Then see if it behaves itself.

J.
