Removing Double Din Hawkeye
Should imagine the pocket will arrive in the morning, will be fitting it on Wednesday but I have searched the net and surprisingly cannot find a step by step installation guide. The best I have found is this which isn't very helpful.

How have people removed the hawkeye dash surround to get to the screws? Is it just clipped in like the old one, don't want to take a screw driver to it to prise it out if I don't have to, it will just end up marking it.
This is the pocket I will be fitting:
Scoobyparts Ltd GENUINE SUBARU DIN POCKET
Any hints and tips of how bast to fit with a single din head unit on top.

Open cup holder
Remove the 2 screws you can see and pull it out.
Pull the facia from the top and the 2 upper clips should come out.
Pull a bit harder at the bottom of the fascia and the bottom 2 come out
The headunit is held in by 6 screws
Simples

1. pull back on the gearlever surround to expose the bottom of the centre dash.
2. undo the two screws at the bottom of the centre dash
3. ease the top out (these are clips and need a fair degree of force but be careful !!)
4. unclip connectors from back of dash
5. unscrew stereo

Well that was easy enough. It sounds a million times better now while still sounding absolutely ****e at the same time, just shows how bad the original unit is. Full sound system next when funds allow, this will do for the minute.

peterg60,is the car a hawkeye and is it the ripspeed with the motorised screen??? if it is then you have to fit it at the bottom of the hole near the heater controls. it will stick out about 1 inch and the motorised screen will hit the dash surround underneath the heater vents everytime it is used. i had a similar unit and swapped it for a single din pioneer. best choice i ever made.
