Question

Can anyone help please, my mate sideways has bought front and rear speakers for his Scooby wagon, and was wondering how he might go about fitting them.

Any advise on panel removal, thing to watch out for, etc would be greatly appreciated. He's got a MY97 wagon. I will watch this with interest as we have to fit them tomorrow night.

I'm also just about to get a few speakers too...

Thanks in advance, Phill C

PS Jas, bring on the Gifs

Cool

Rears are a piece of cake - just pull of the grilles and unscrew the speaker. When wiring the new driver (speaker!!) ensure that the cables are correctly terminated, as this will result in 'phasing' - where one speaker's movement is 'pushing' the other' is pulling. The cones should move in the same direction....

Front's - can't remember the MY97, but I'd imagine it's the same as on Chiark's website. If not, it's the same as mine (MY95). The process is -
1. Unclip the door latch (interior!) surround.
2. Unscrew the interior handle.
3. Unscrew the surrounding screws (duh!)
4. The door card lifts 'up and asay' from the car - don't pull to hard, coz th eleccy window buttons are still connected, as are the speakers.
5. With my speakers, before I rewired the car, I re-soldered the connections from the speaker to the connector. Just made it look a bit more professional as opposed to blu-tak and sellotape!!
6. Perform instructions in reverse to re-fit door card. Be careful though, it can be a bit of a sod to re-seat the door card properly...

I can't check at the moment coz mine's still being repaired!!

Hope this helps somewhat.....

Dan

John,

And thankyou for the email on the infinity speaker advise. I will use your recommendations and get the hardware later this week.
