Default Double Din DVD in Bugeye (advice needed)

I am trying to fit my Double Din DVD into my bugeye, but soon realised the dash apature is too small for the dash to ga back in.

I have read up and it appears its because the standard unit its slightly behind the dash.

I was wondering if anybody has and tips, or pictures of there units in place, and also pics of exactly where the have trimmed and how much.

Thanks for your help

the reason why i asked is that the dvd players on ebay are not manufactured to the exact size of the space that is provided in these cars, but like anything in life you can make it fit with abit of chopping.that is why i always stick to top brands like kenwood pioneer alpine etc because they fit with no problems.first thing would be to measure the width of your headunit then the space in your dash and go from there it is usually just the width that is wider and not the depth but double check to be sure as they say its better to measure twice and cut once then the other way around or something like that!!!hope this helps a little.

on a 01 bugeye with the pillar mounted whip type aerial, does it have a amplifier?

Also is there a joint inbetween the plug at the back of the radio, and the aerial itself,

The wire weems to dissapear accross and under the driver footwell carpet.

I now have as good as NO radio reception. and the blue wire is wired in, but when it gets to the white block as it joins the scooby origial plug there is no wire populating its pin position.

this would lead me to beleive NO amp, and possibly a broken aerial wire.

Unless somebody know different.

Would appreciate any help on this, i have used the search but not come up with anything.
