Default Help with front speakers on a newage

I am looking to replace the front speakers on my hawkeye and need some advice as im not sure which to go for.

Firstly am i correct in thinking that 5.25inch speakers are a direct replacement?

Secondly whats the difference between 2-way and components? Im not after anything fancy and wont be running an amp, so will just be using my Pioneer FH-P80BT. I just want to improve the overall sound quality and be able to turn it up without distortion.

At the moment im considering a set of Infinity Reference Components for 50quid.

Anyone have any other recommendations?

Lloydee has no access to internet, using snet on his phone. I'll like to change my speakers too, advice please

165 mm three mounting points at 120 degree spacing, so adaptors needed.

I've asked TanyaTriangles to bring me some Focal VRS165 back from Francais with him.

Going in tomorrow at work, on over-time !

P.S. Very little clearance for deep speakers, get local advice, or prepare to use spacers, mine are off on the laser cutter first AM.

12mm mdf ring normally sorts the spacing out for depth, or a set of vectra speaker rings,
Components are where the tweeter is separate and 2 way is where its built in, components are what you need for the fronts, if you do use the spacers/mdf then i think its 6.25 inch speakers you can squeeze in.

So will I need brackets for 13cm(5.25") components.

I called caraudiosecurity and asked them about the Infinity Kappa Component, the lad said it would be a direct fit without the need for any mods.
Is this true or will I need bracckets?

I fitted Kappas to mine and you'll definatly need spacers I used Vauxhall Corsa spacers, fit perfectly and you don't have to make a mess with MDF.

Hi

same here fitted infinity kappas 65.9cs ,65.7cs will fit also others with a max depth of about 65mm had trouble mounting cross overs as quite big. I also used the corsa c adaptors available on ebay

car audio security also do some kenwood 702p i think which are good and reasonable

I went to Bass Junkies today to see about some new component speakers, they had these MB Quart RUA 216 2-Way Compo. System (shallow) 6½"/16 cm Set - Alpha Car Audio for £120, which seem to be pretty good speakers, and I assume they'll fit without spacers too?

you can buy the adapter plates on ebay for 12.00 posted and 13cm fit directly into the doors. which is what i will do and much easer to do.

You'll probably find they are corsa spacers repacked to say Subaru.

You will still need spacers due to the angle of the door and the door only has three holes for speaker fitment, the spacers will angle the speaker and use only three holes in your door too. MB Quartz are nice speakers, I'd amp them to get the best out of them.

I thought with the multiple holes in the speakers they'd line up with the 3 holes in the door, but yeah hadn't thought about the angling, I guess I'd better get some spacers too. I fitted an amp and sub last week but didn't have any door speakers yet, but while I was wiring the amp in I put all the wiring in place ready for them.

I had to nibble away a sliver of metal to get my 165mm Focal's in (with 6 mm laser cut spacers).
