Can anybody enlighten me on where it is possible to run a thickish cable {2 gauge} through the bulkhead? Are there existing holes in the bulhead or inner wing etc? The cable needs to run front to rear. The car is an my99 with a/c.

Help gratefully received!

Not at the moment but imminantly, the garage have just ran a length through my car to the boot (2 gauge), (£95.00). The car should back with me this week I will look where they have ran it and let you know.

Hi there,

There is a small/medium sized grommet on the drivers side (actually nearer the middle). If I remember correctly its behind the intercooler and down abit.

For what I need that wasnt big enough, so I drilled (hole cut) and 20mm hole through the bulk head (remove the plastic from around the wiper arms and drill down on the drivers side). This will bring you out above the pedals/steering coloumn. I fitted a water tight sleeved grommet into the hole and sealed the base of it with silicone (nice, neat and professional). I have done this to two Impreza's now and there hasnt been a single leak.

There is one problem though. The clips (rivets) holding the plastic down break. So, order somemore from your dealer. I think it takes nines (but they are a pound each) :-(

Cheers,

J.

The cable has been ran back down the same side as the battery and they implied they had found a hole for it as opposed to making one.

Julian, forgot to mention; Your description of 2 guage cable as 'thickish' has to be a candidate for understatement of the week.

More to follow.

Thanks for the responses. Has anyone tried running a wire inside the wheel arch liner & into the engine bay through the inner wing? It appear that existing cables are routed that way.

I just want to avoid drilling holes.

Thanks

Hi there,

I haven't tried that way yet.

I will be removing my wheel arch liners in a week or so. I will let you know how I get on. (time to place an order for 3000 clips)

Cheers,

J.

my tip for routing power cables (kind of) is that the better the quality of the cable, the more wires it is actually made of, which makes it more flexible. A 0 (yes nought) gauge really good cable is much easier to route than a 4 gauge cheapy. You get what you pay for with power cable like the others.

Thumbs up

It's back and it shakes the earth, with Clarity & Staging that are are out of this world.
Incredible.

It still needs to be set up on an RTA, which will probably be done next week.

Julian

There is a cable hole which runs about 6" down on the battery side through the bulk head. If you can't find it I will send you a more detailed description.

I will have a word with my IT consultant (<I>I don't know how to do it</I>).

Anybody going to the North Nott's/South York's meet on Sept 25th will both see and hear it. Bring your favourite tunes (CD or MD) and you can listen to it with whatever you like.

Mike

I ended up running the gauge through the inner wing into an existing spare grommet in the passenger kickwell on Friday. Are you going to put soem pictures on the net of your car?

I am nearly there with my install now.
