Default dynamat-ing doors

How do you go about this.
ive taken the door card off. i take it you remove the polythene cover?
what about all the wires and linkages for the door handle, and the large holes etc.
looks like a bit of a job!! help

remove the sheeting, remove all the clips and wires, clean with a strong cleaner and apply matting only after you have heated it with a heat gun.

cheers, yeah it was but well worth it. I get a thud when I shut my doors (just like a BM!)

This is what I did.


I sealed the door for maximum effect, I used a heat gun and cheap seem roller (several of them) from Wilko's, you MUST heat the deadening so it sticks on and stays stuck on. I found that Methylated spirit shifted the gunk left by the original moisture barriers.

Do both the inside and outside skin on the door. You do get a nice thud when you shut the door's now, instead of the clink you got before, it has improved the sound from the front speakers dramatically.

+1 for sealing the holes

Makes all the difference imho

I used sheets of aluminium cut to size which I then siliconed on and secured with a few self tappers

It is a slow labourious job but the results are really worth it
