Default Pioneer Head Units

Anyone got a AVIC 900, 700 or 500 fitted? How good are they and what is the difference between them except for price - very confused. Also there doesn't appear to be a direct Ipod screen as there is with the Kenwood 5220 is that correct eg. display of song, album, artist etc. The 900 looks fantastic, appearance wise, better than the Kenwood but doesn't look as clever and I read somewhere the SatNAV doesn't have speed cameras either, is that correct?

The AVIC 900 is separate sat nav unit you will have to connect it to a pioneer AV screen. I have the AVIC 800 and a AVH 5700 the sat nav is excellent but it does not have speed cameras on it. You will need a IB-100 Ipod adapter if you want to connect an ipod but the AVH 5700 does display all the ipod settings and song info.

The AVIC-500 is the separate unit, the 700 and 900 are all in one double din. Just installed a 900 in an 04 and very happy with it, full ipod control for all ipod content including movies, shows album art as well if you have it on your ipod. The main difference between the 700 and 900 is the 900 supports dvd, 700 is just cd. i've not played around yet to see about speed cameras but i'll go and check.

Apparently you have to download cameras from the Pioneer Website - 1 years free subscription. I have now bought the 900 and having it fitted on Monday however, Pioneer are saying my serial number does not register for the free Ipod even though the card for it came with the unit - not happy but will continue with this next week.
