Question

Hi all

I have just installed a pair of Infinity 605cs in my MY98 and I have been offered this amp at my local ICE dealer to power them:

Sony XM-1502SX 2 Channel

2 x 160w RMS (4 Ohms)
1 x 400w RMS (4 Ohms)
2 x 380w Max (2 Ohms)
1 x 760w Max (4 Ohms)
Balanced Input Circuit
Speaker Level Input
0-10dB Bass Boost (40Hz)
50Hz-300Hz HP/LP Filter
5Hz - 50KHz
S/N Ratio > 100dB
4 Rail Power Supply
Line Out
MOSFET Output Stage/Power Supply
Gold Plated Conectors

As I know next to nothing about ICE, would this amp be OK? Would it have too much power for the speakers?

Cheers,

Gary G

Welcome Aboard!
I have two sets of 605cs speakers in my MY00. I am running them off an alpine mrv-f407 (4x60watts rms). They run perfectly with this amp, so having a bit more clout to run wont do them any harm. The more power the less chance of distortion. I originally had them set up with out the -4db connected but found the treble to be a bit harsh.
If you are fitting them in the original spaces up front, you might need to trim the lip of the plastic shield that the speakers sits inside, and the little plastic locating tabs for the original speakers. Remeber to put a bead of silcone sealant around the speaker where it mounts to the plastic shield (gives a better sound).
Hope this helps. Have fun with your new sounds!
Infinity.
