Subaru_Imprezza

I want to upgrade the standard headunit in MY96 Impreza. I'd like to go for an Alpine unit, with a couple of pre-outs. I was thinking of this model with the following spec:

Alpine CDM-7857RB
44W x 4
CD shuttle control
RDS
Detachable front panel
Dual pre-amp outputs
Wireless remote control and satellite control ready

Want your opinions on which headunit I should go for, preferably CD, thats 1/2 decent, I got around £250 to spend. Also, want it in Silver with blue LCD to match my Scooby ;o) Not too much to ask?

I've never heard of that model number - CDM-7857RB

Could you mean CDM-7859RB? This unit only has 1 set of RCA outputs (rear).
None of the current Alpine cd/tuners have 2 sets (front and rear), only 1 set or 3 sets. The first model with 3 sets is the Award winning CDA-7873R. £219.00 from MCS.

Its an older Alpine model, check the Demon Tweeks Mag. Only a few places sell it now

Been surfing the web all eve and think I've found what i want, its a Panasonic CQ DFX 701. Looks the bizniz, how would you rate it?

I'd be tempted by what g-man has found there - RCA outputs are extremely useful when upgrading your system in the future if/when the bug bites... Check the unit that you're looking at has 'em!
