Default Does the original HU support a Base Box?

I know I've done this the wrong way round but I've just bought 2 x 12 inch subs with a carpeted enclosure and with a built in Amp.

I am going to change the HU soon and I've already changed the front speakers.

My question is, will the original HU from a 2003 WRX support a base box

Your HU doesn't have pre-outs, but it will support a powered sub which takes speaker level inputs - which some of the Alpines do.

It is a powered sub so you don't happen to know how I would go about connect the wiring

It may have inputs marked speaker or high level. If it does you split the speaker cables into them.

Worth checking for the manual. What model is it?

It does indeed have "High Level Inputs" which I assume I can simply connect to the Left & Right rear speakers using the positive & negative terminals.

I do however have 2 further questions:-

1. The High Level Input wiring supplied has R+, R-, L+ & L-, but it also has a 5th wire labelled "G" - where does this go

2. I assume the rear speaker cables run under the plastic kick plates on the doors - how are these removed with breaking anything

Thank you for your continued advice

Guessing it will be ground? You should have somewhere to wire it up to the battery (using a fuse close to the battery itself) then it needs to be grounded, or earthed, to the chassis. If you can find a model number or manual that would help.

Not sure about the rear cables, sorry.
