Default Retaining ability to play Ipod without headunit in car

Hi folks,

I'm converting my impreza for track use at the mo and have got to the stage where i'm needing either to relocate the headunit or do away with it completely due to lack of space (gauges and PSI3).

There's very little on the net about retaining the ability to play music in the car without the head unit other than the odd comment about using an Ipod and amp.

What i'm interested to know is if anyone on here has relocated their headunit (other than to the vents as i want to hang onto those) or is running without a headunit and is using an Ipod as the source but via an amp or similar.

I look forward to hearing.

Cheers

James
