Speaker Upgrade 1999 Classic
Hi,
Wonder if anybody could help me out here ?
I want to Upgrade the Speakers in my 1999 Classic (4Dr) from standard.
What size speakers do I need to fit in the front behind the door cards ?
Don't wanna pull them off until I have the speakers & minimise any chance of damage to them ?
Thanks in Advance
Also While I'm posting how do the front door cards come off ?
Andy

The stock speakers are quite small, I fitted Sony 3-way 6.6" speakers to mine with the help of home made mdf spacers, which are hidden behind the door cards. Apparently, Corsa spacers available from ICE dealers, also fit Scoobs.
Removal of a door card is a piece of p*ss:
Prize off the two rectangular screw covers, and undo the screws behind them.
Gently prize up the door handle surround and remove it. DO NOT undo the large screw in the centre of the door handle release.
Gently prize up the window switch, release it from it's wiring and remove it.
Now, working slowly and by feel, insert a flattish blade, (I used a table fork handle), under the front/lower edge of the panel, moving it along until it meets resistance. Pull the panel outwards at this point, repeat until all catches are undone.
Now lift the door card slightly, swing it out at the bottom and remove it.
Takes longer to type it than to do it.

Hi Alcazar, sorry to hijack this thread. Just tried the above method to get the door card off and it wouldn't move for some reason? Only thing I could think is that there's a screw near the electric window switch. does this need to be removed too? Could not work it our for the life of me, so had to put the things back on without getting as far as taking the door card off :-(
thanks.
thanks.
