How to improve ICE

Help?
When I bought my MY98 5dr, I swapped the standard setup for Sony 40x40w head unit and JBL speakers all round (5 door, so rear speakers are in the rear doors)
The sound isn't bad and I dont want to spend oddles of dosh, but can this be made better (but more improtant, cheaply) Since its a 5dr, bass boxes are a no go (correct me if I'm wrong) so the only real option I can think of is to install an amp of some sort.
Advice please?

Gregh has just installed an amp and loves it.
What do you want? Crisper sound, more sound, more bass?
You can install a sub in a 5 door and not sacrifice space - put it in the spare wheel well...

Two ways of achieving that: amping up, which will make your current speakers work more effectively and not drive them to distortion, or add a sub.
Personally, I'd add a 4 channel sub and see how that goes. As mentioned, Gregh has just added a Philips DAP6040 and I think it is a damn fine amp for the money.
